The virtues of the original aeons did not remain within the Boundary, but fled to the Fullness when Logos retreated from the Deficiency, leaving behind small, weak, imitations of the original. These phantoms of the Imitation did not exist from the beginning, and so they possessed neither the love of the Father nor the originating consciousness of the Son and the ALL.
Over the course of illuminating the Gnostic Gospel, the Simple Explanation has designed a series of visual metaphors representing facets of Gnostic and Christian belief. For the fullest understanding of this article, you may wish to read the entire Gnostic Gospel Illuminated series from the beginning. If you would prefer to first read the "Simple Gnostic Gospel, Part One: The Father, The Son, and the Birth of The ALL," click here.
Those of the Imitation do not know the hierarchy of the Fullness, nor do they have assigned roles and
places there. Lacking the ALL’s cooperative design, they exist in a state of
perpetual disturbance, driven by self-centered ambition, “exalting themselves
in lust for dominion, each one of them according to the magnitude of the name
of which he was a shadow, fantasizing that he would become greater than his
fellows” [The Tripartite Tractate, v. 79].
These
phantoms represent values contrary to the originals in the Fullness:
Those of the
Imitation give rise to “fighters, warriors, troublemakers, rebels” and other such disobedient
types, driven by the will to dominate [The Tripartite Tractate, v. 80]. Left to
their own feeble devices, those of the Imitation strive against each other in a
state of darkness, woe, and misery.

Those readers who are put off by the name "God" or other religious words like the "Father," the "Son," and the "Holy Spirit," are free to continue using more modern memes like "consciousness" and "self-awareness," "algorithms" and "fractals." You may study these same topics in my Simple Explanation blog and book. However, if you are already familiar with Hebrew and Christian memes, then you will understand these Gnostic writings without needing to first dip into the Simple Explanation, and so you may skip the following translation.
The Simple Explanation of Absolutely Everything claims that a person's set of beliefs influences how we behave in the world. We carry these memes around like our own personal bundle of beliefs. This meme bundle overlays our Self's otherwise perfect Unit of Consciousness and becomes a filter through which we view the world. You can see how one who holds to the left side of the list above would behave very differently than one who embraces the virtues on right side of the list. The content of one's meme bundle determines not only their beliefs, but how they view others and the values they impugn to others' motives. In other words, if I am a liar and a cheat, I believe everyone else is either a liar and a cheat or a sucker. If I am patient and generous, then I hope and trust that good will arise from my patience.
"Hope springs eternal" is a meme from the right side of the list. "Screw you. It's a dog-eat-dog world," arises from the meme bundle on the left.
If you find yourself dwelling on darkness, woe, and misery, then this is a clue that you are embracing the wrong memes. The Simple Explanation recommends shedding unhelpful memes from your bundle so that the light of the Universal Unit of Consciousness can shine through.

When the memes are stripped away, only love remains. |
Shedding memes easier said than done, becoming aware of ones own negative or unhelpful karma/memes (alone or with the help of others) feels like it is probably a lifetimes work, even if we are lucky enough to drop them I think they can leave permanent residues or traces in our personality.
ReplyDeleteYou ain't kidding! First, yay for Karl working on through the Gnostic Gospels! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I discuss this topic almost every day. We are working on a psychology methodology as we speak. Bill is a hypnotherapist, and he applies our Simple philosophy to his therapy with clients. We will write more about this soon. With Bill's hypnosis, he takes the client to a time when the disruptive meme was acquired by the client and then they rewrite history so the meme didn't attach. For example, a person who feels unloved can go to the incident during hypnosis where they "learned" they were unlovable and then they go back and make up a new history where they were sufficiently loved, and come forward from there, unburdened by the "I am unlovable" meme, or whatever the case may be. (this could be making up more loving parents or whatever) So, that's one way to peel off negative memes.
Basically, we're discovering that ugly memes hide the perfect beauty that lies underneath them, like yarn wrapping over the top of the person's "soul", or Unit of Consciousness. So when you peel back or drop off that meme, the virtue is already there under the surface. IOW, Karl is already a perfect person under those unhelpful memes. Lots more on this later...
Meanwhile, simply recognizing that there is a difference between the left and right side of the list, between negative memes and positive virtues, and then wanting to dwell on the virtuous side, will cause you to gravitate to the right.
Super observation, Karl. Onward and upward!
Thanks Cyd, Recently I have been aware of a very low level anxiety/ voice that tells me "people (adults!) don't really like me" I try to ignore it and carry on regardless trying to continue meeting new people, chatting and enjoying socialising, but I do tend to feel more relaxed around younger people and dwell almost completely in the right side of your lists in their company where as with adults a lot of the left side has featured in my life and still does. Thanks again for this illuminating and helpful information.

ReplyDeleteThere is a song I like to sing along with by Iris DeMent called "When My Morning Comes Around." It's about dying. She says, "When my morning comes around, no one else will be there, so I won't have to worry about what I'm supposed to say. I alone will know that I've climbed the great big mountain, and that's all that will matter, when my morning comes around."
ReplyDeleteThe last verse goes: When my morning comes around, from a new cup I'll be drinking, and for once I won't be thinking, there's something wrong with me. I'll wake up and find that my faults have been forgiven, and that's when I'll start living, when my morning comes around."
DeleteOkay but in the meantime I was thinking to try use these occasional feeling to spur me on and try to stay humble with people I meet and listen more I also think I should eat more broccoli, garlic and ginger, stay in touch more with good friends while also continuing reading more of your wise words. Be Well Cyd!
ReplyDeleteFunny. Better to focus on improving here and now rather than getting just reward in heaven. Yah, I hear ya.
ReplyDeleteIt's very rarely either or with me., I will try to do my best in the here and now while keeping an open mind And living in hope after all it can't do me any harm. All the best Cyd!
ReplyDeleteAfter I finish up the Gnostic Gospel series, I'll go back to the Simple Explanation of things. Including a simpler cosmology than the gnostic gospel. I think you might like where this all eventually winds up. Thanks for hanging in there!
