The place where the waterfall hits the pool below always reminds me of the manner that material comes into being in our universe. The water running down the face of the rock is like the metaversal information pattern flowing down the vortex of the torus and bursting into our universe out of the ananda/joy zero point field, the same way the bubbles burst into froth from the power of the water hitting the pond. As you will see and hear in this video I just uploaded to youtube.
The Simple Explanation suggests that a "universal unit of consciousness" carries all of the information that manifests as our particular time/space continuum. This universal unit of consciousness is the primal algorithm of the set of laws that govern our universe. Some people call that God. Other people think it all can be boiled down to math and physics. Video Blog of Waterfall Metaphor
Yesterday I filmed this short video of the little waterfall I see every day on my walk in the woods. I love to see the even littler fractal waterfall feeding its own tiny pool, that you see at the beginning of the video.

Toroidal Patterns in Fruit
I love seeing the toroidal patterns in the fruits and vegetables as I prepare them for salads. Here are a few pictures from my kitchen that clearly illustrate how the toroidal flow imprints itself upon fruit.
Next I was struck by the perfect torus shape.
Could this apple resemble the torus any more closely? |
Top view of apple showing the outside flow pattern of the torus, as lines loop from pole to pole and then over the top hump and down into the center. The toroidal pole comes straight up the middle. |

A few days ago I was moved to photograph these cherry tomatoes as I was preparing them for an omelet.
The first thing that struck me was the impression of the Tree of Life in the tomato half, like a sparkling little diorama of a tree and its roots.

The cherry tomato is a fractal iteration of the universal toroidal fractal. |
(the following section has been relocated from the "stay centered" article.)
Oftentimes, matter can be seen as an allegorical expression of idealistic patterns. I recently noticed even more similarities between this toroidal model and the seed patterns in fruit.

The star of seeds inside a pear is like particles pouring out of the big bang. |
Behold the UC as expressed by the pear. You can see the dynamic energy of both vitality and information exploding from the center of the pear as a starburst of seeds. The center point of the toroid expresses both energy and joy and it bursts forth into our universe. The patterns at the center of the fruit are fractally true. The center is life and truth. It is the center from which the metaversal pattern emerges. Near the seeds we see an area of denser nutrients (the intense yellow of the bottom photo). This area can be thought of as the sustenance of our immediate surroundings, placed there by the Universal UC for our use and care. The meaty area outside that is what I think of as somewhat removed from the middle, as consciousness looking outward rather than inward. There are no metaversal seeds out there. Finally, we can see the skin containing this pear, holding it separate, sealing it off, protecting and constraining.

On another note, this morning when I opened the Albion Inn's refrigerator, I was greeted by this charming watermelon.
The outside of this watermelon reminds me of the Simple Explanation's model of memes shrouding UCs, wrapping around the torus shape from pole to pole and back again through the middle:

A Simple Explanation of "Stay Centered"
We are often advised to "stay centered" in order to better deal with life's challenges. This is timeless advice. Most ancient philosophies, in the West and the East, incorporate some version of "staying centered."
Both the Bible and the Tao Te Ching promote the memes "stay centered," and "walk the straight and narrow path." For example, during the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said,
Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13)
And Lao Tzu similarly recommended,
The great Way is easy, yet people prefer the side paths. Be aware when things are out of balance. Stay centered within the Tao. (from verse 53, Tao Te Ching, Stephen Mitchell translation)
In the examples above, "staying centered" refers to keeping to a narrow field of possible action, as opposed to broader or more diverse paths.
Another way to "stay centered" is expressed by the Golden Mean, which Aristotle described as keeping to the beneficial middle and avoiding extremes. In Chinese philosophy this is called the Doctrine of the Mean. In Buddhism the same meme is called The Middle Way. Each tradition uses slightly different words and metaphors, but they all articulate the same meme.
Staying centered means keeping your conscious focus on the here and now, remaining poised in the present between past and future. Staying centered means allowing your Unit of Consciousness to align with the Universal UC, rather than with your ego. Staying centered acknowledges that the answers lie in the immediate present, not out there in some other place or time.
According to the Simple Explanation, information from the metaverse flows into our universe through the dynamic patterns of the Universal UC. In our model, the patterns of our space-time continuum emerge fractally from the zero-point field at the center of the Universal UC. These patterns are both ideal and material. Idealistic patterns include, for example, the laws of physics, mathematics, and karma. Material patterns are expressed in the 3-D universe with which we are all familiar.
When I image nestling backward into the Universal UC, I imagine falling smaller toward the ananda/joy direction, while still feeling the outer skin of the Universal UC holding from the outside and flowing through the middle. Perfection and possibility emerge from the middle as the universe instantiates around me. This would be the truest expression of the meme "stay centered".

Staying Centered Near the Vortex Maintains Alignment with the Metaverse |

Spiritually, the best solutions arise from God, also known as the Universal UC, or the metaversal fractal. Answers to problems are not found in the broad pathways of the world; attempting to find answers "out there" will not align you with the metaversal plan. Keeping to the center aligns one with God's will.

Is our Universal UC a gigantic autophagosome?
The cover of the March 26, 2011 edition of ScienceNews illustrates an autophagosome forming around some cellular debris. The second I laid eyes upon the cover, I was happy to see that this is very close to the mechanism I have been describing for the formation of our Universal Unit of Consciousness. Let's see how this might be a useful metaphor.
A variety of autophagic processes exist, all having in common the degradation of intracellular components via the lysosome. The most well-known mechanism of autophagy involves the formation of a membrane around a targeted region of the cell, separating the contents from the rest of the cytoplasm. The resultant vesicle then fuses with a lysosome and subsequently degrades the contents.
According to the Science News article, Dining In, "In the first recognizable step of the process, a small, curved, double-membraned structure appears around the parts of the cell that are on the menu. That little bit of membrane grows to encase whatever the cell plans to swallow" (p.18).
Here's what the Simple Explanation says:
On this day that time began, consciousness wrapped itself around the expanding space of our universe, forming a border between us and infinity.
I'm suggesting that singular thought of limitless potential became a type of conceptual debris that needed sealing off from the undifferentiated metaverse. The torus shape suspends the singularity in the center zero-point field of our universe. Within our universe, time and space, matter and locality are held from the metaverse by this fractal membrane, the Universal UC.
Here's how I picture the process: imagine unfurling a large sheet, shaking it out above you, netting a big pouch of air, and quickly gathering up the corners in the middle. Voila--the Universal Unit of Consciousness, the prototypical toroidal shape, the essential fractal formula of creation.
The pouch of air inside the gathered sheet is our material universe, the sheet itself is the Universal UC, the fist holding the sheet corners at the middle is the ananda/joy/here/now point at the center of our universe, and the totality of the torus is the autophagosome container.
So, continuing with this metaphor, the debris that is this manifested universe will someday be simplified back to the building blocks of original consciousness and reabsorbed back into the undifferentiated metaverse.

Changing gears, look at this beautiful illustration of little red autophagosomes lining up along the vortex of the toroidal shape that is cell mytosis. Isn't it gorgeous?

Video Examples of Toroidal Flow
The Simple Explanation proposes that the fractal geometric equation upon which our material universe is patterned is toroidal in shape. Chapter 4, "One Simple Model," explains this toroidal flow model of the conscious universe. If you have not yet read the article "One Simple Model," this would be a good time.
This morning when I was running the blender, I noticed that the funnel formed by the blender's whirling blades is similar to the toroidal funnels created by the starburst of proto-energy at the heart of the universal torus pattern. For the metaphor to fully work, please imagine that the shape of the blender container is a torus and the whirling blades at the center is actually a zero-point field of infinite dimensions. Here's a one minute video of this morning's blender drink where I describe the blender's toroidal vortex.

After I posted this video to youtube, I saw that there were a number of other videos depicting toroids and toroidal flow. There must be many people like myself who are waking up to the toroids around us. The following video of toroids I found on youtube is awesome! Way better examples of toroids than my blender funnel!

Toroidal Forces--Proto-Energy
Today I realized that the expulsive force that explodes outward from the center of the toroid is the same as the implosive force that presses inward from the outer shell. In the drawings below, the implosive force (coherence; love) is represented by the yellow arrows and the expulsive force (proto-energy; Ananda; joy) is represented by the white star at the middle.

Here’s how it works: imagine the yellow arrows poking into the entire surface of the toroid—not just the outside spherical portion but from the within the funnel areas, too. Now visualize the surface of the toroid in motion, flowing out the bottom of the funnel, around the outside, and back through the middle (as depicted by the white arrows in the drawing below). Keep in mind that, despite the cross-sectional views we see here, the flow is actually taking place along the entire outside spherical surface, flowing up and over the rounded hemispheric region and down into the increasingly constrained funnel, passing through the point at the center. As the inward-poking arrows slide over the lip of the funnel and begin flowing down into the funnel, the inward-from-rim-toward-center direction flips over to become the center-pointing-outward direction.
Not only does the cohesive, inward force now appear to be a repulsive, outward force, the force itself is compressed from that generated over the entire spherical surface to a tremendously concentrated, singular point exploding outward in all possible directions into the interior of the toroid.
The Simple Explanation proposes that this extremely concentrated proto-energy is held in suspension at the zero point of the universal torus, exploding outward into our material universe as the originator of the fundamental forces of physics. These forces are shaped and directed by the proto-shape of the torus itself, which is the organizational framework for the fundamental particles.
