The Simple Explanation suggests that a "universal unit of consciousness" carries all of the information that manifests as our particular time/space continuum. This universal unit of consciousness is the primal algorithm of the set of laws that govern our universe. Some people call that God. Other people think it all can be boiled down to math and physics. Vinegar eels forming a torus
I ran across an article in Science News this week about the curious discovery that a tiny nematode called vinegar eels (because they swim around in raw vinegar) are able to engage in synchronized swimming when confined to a single water droplet. This synchronization of movement is quite unusual and unexpected. Here's what they look like when this happens:
| Turbatrix aceti, a species of nematode commonly known as vinegar eels, engage in synchronized swimming when confined to a water droplet. photo: ANTON PESHKOV |
These vinegar eels coordinate two types of movement, directional motion plus oscillation, to create the torus shape pictured above. Confinement to a globular water droplet is required in order to coordinate these movements, otherwise the tiny nematodes swim by themselves through their liquid mediums.
The toroidal distribution exerts a measurable outward pressure toward the outside of the droplet to keep it from collapsing inward.
Scientists are puzzled as to how these mindless, primitive organisms can coordinate this complex behavior. Such behavior has been predicted by computer modeling of fluid dynamics, but this is the first example discovered in living organisms.
The original report appears in the journal Soft Matter.

The Great Torus of Jupiter
After this many years of writing the Simple Explanation blog, what can I say here other than, "Hey! Look at that torus they're calling Jupiter!"
Scientists have known for a few decades that the upper atmosphere of Jupiter is hundreds of degrees warmer than expected. Now they are offering an explanation that looks suspiciously like another planetary torus has been discovered.
Using Hawaii's Keck 2 telescope, scientists looked for positively charged hydrogen particles in Jupiter's atmosphere. They found a ring around the north and south poles and particles coming in (they assume) [or going out, I would conjecture], as well as waves of heat cascading down the outside of the planet. Yes, it can be explained by the way they conjecture the mechanism, or could be explained by the Simple Explanation's toroidal core theory of planetary development. The official imagery certainly implies that as a possible mechanism. We'll await further proof at some later date.
Meanwhile, here's the link to the original article.
Jupiter’s magnetic field lines (blue) steer charged particles in the solar wind toward
the planet’s poles, generating auroras (white) similar to Earth’s. High-altitude winds
then carry heat (red) from the auroras toward Jupiter’s equator, warming the planet’s
upper atmosphere, as shown in this artist’s illustration, which overlays a visible
light image of the planet.

Ten-Year Anniversary of A Simple Explanation--New Edition of Book For Sale Now!
You may purchase the new Amazon paperback and Kindle ebook editions here, now.
Ten years ago I turned on my word processor to begin writing a play about a midwife's trial. Instead, the first twenty pages of "A Simple Explanation" poured out onto the screen.
I had been thinking about these topics for many years. The most important concepts to me at that time were "mud up, spirit down," and "as above, so below." I had also been meditating upon the donut shape known as a "torus" since reading Bentov's "Stalking the Wild Pendulum" in 1979. Finally, the concept of holographs often rolled through my mind--the idea that you can replicate the original wholeness of an object or image by studying a small fragment of the whole.
I was working as a breakfast chef at my own bed and breakfast, which gave me plenty of time for contemplation while preparing food.
I had begun to notice and photograph the repetitive interior shape of fruits and vegetables as I dealt with them in the kitchen. At some point I noticed that the seed explosion came from the middle of their shapes, no matter if it was an apple, a tomato, a pepper, or a squash. Once I saw that, I observed that the fruits were variations of the torus shape, and the seeds came from the center, with the stem line going right through these center seeds and extending out the bottom. It was a happy day, indeed, when A Simple Explanation presented itself to me. Boom! Everything fell into place on the page with no strain at all on my part, as if my subconscious had already figured it out and now my fingers were receiving the message.
Soon thereafter I established the Simple Explanation blog and essentially developed all of the remaining concepts publicly online. If you are interested in tracing the theory's genesis, you can go back to the first dozen or so postings from the blog's historical timeline, beginning in January of 2010. The blog has been viewed over 270,000 times and I have written and posted well over 300 original articles.
Since that time, I have been gratified to see a number of my scientific hypotheses come true. My original meme-based social theories are also proving to be true, and easier than ever observe nowadays during these times of tremendous social and political upheaval.
Lastly, the "hard problem" of consciousness is not at all hard when viewed through the paradigm-shifting lens of A Simple Explanation. My articles concerning my "Simple Fractal Model of the Conscious Universe" have been viewed over 21,000 times.
This 3rd edition, of "A Simple Explanation of Absolutely Everything" contains new material not included in the previous editions, including expanded sections on evolutionary theory, reincarnation, and meme theory. There are also examples of the theory applied, so you can see how the Simple Explanation makes even the incomprehensible understandable.
The 3rd edition is a black and white paperback, available on Amazon for $19.99. There is also a kindle ebook edition in color, if your reader is in color, for only $4.99.
The new edition is now available from Amazon.com in all markets.

Super Massive Structures Tie the Universe Together--Toruses!

When the torus is small, it governs atomic forces, including electromagnetic energy and gravity.
When the torus is large, it both gathers and feeds large astronomical structures with the same electromagnetic forces and gravity.

| The "bubbles" and "halos" show where the torus is |
Today's article was prompted by the discovery of super-massive structures that appear to tie the entire universe together. Scientists do not know how, but they now must admit that the data shows that a jiggle on one side of the universe causes a corresponding jiggle somewhere else in the universe, as if they were somehow connected by gigantic invisible filaments.
A series of articles in Vice by science writer Becky Ferreira clearly outlines numerous puzzling phenomena--from super-massive universal structures and energetic galactic bubbles, to the increasing possibility of a closed, spherical universal space as opposed to the standard model of a flat, infinite space. Scientist are both baffled and challenged as they attempt to find a cosmic model to account for these new observations.
The clues to the solution are already imbedded in the language used to describe their findings, for they all refer to "bubbles," "spheres," "balloons," and "halos." These are other words for the torus shape and dynamics.
All of these puzzles can be explained by picturing the universe as a closed, toroidal system, with a super-massive torus sitting at both the center and enveloping all of space at its outside boundary. Moreover, this super-massive torus has been slowly growing larger (the expanding universe) as energetic forces continue to enter space from the middle. In my Simple Explanation, the big bang occurred at the center of an outflowing black hole, which continues to push matter outward into the closed space of the growing torus that surrounds it.
My theory also suggests the presence of miniscule toruses seeded throughout space, bringing energy and anti-entropic organization at the tiny atomic level.
Whether tiny or gigantic, the toruses look the same and perform the same functions, just at smaller and larger scales.
If you would like to picture this and demonstrate the forces for yourself, you may take an ordinary slinky toy and fasten its two ends into the donut shape of a torus. You will find that when you touch any part of the slinky-torus, the entire structure jiggles. If you push on any wire in the slinky-torus so that it rotates toward the center, the entire slinky-torus rotates toward the center.
In this slinky-donut model, if you push a wire downward into the center hole, all wires push downward into the center hole, making an inflow of energy, as in a black hole. This inflow direction is the energetic basis of gravity. From the bottom side of this experiment, the wires flow outward and back around the outside of the torus to the top. This outflow direction is the manner by which electromagnetic and other energetic forces are pushed into this universe. The outflow direction is organizational, informative, and anti-entropic. Scale is irrelevant; they are all the same torus.
You may read my entire series of 30+ toroidal articles by going to the "Topical Index" tab on the Simple Explanation blog and finding the "Toroidal Forces" section.
You're welcome.

A Simple Explanation of Time
Time seems to be peculiarly subjective. The subjective sense of time varies from person to person and from situation to situation. Sometimes it seems to pass quickly; sometimes it seems to go slowly. Its duration seems to change despite the steady ticking of the clocks that measure what we call its passing. Clocks do not actually measure time itself, but rather how long it takes a thing to go from here to there.
As previously stated, clocks measure how long it takes something to go from here to there. Imagine if there were no objects and you could somehow observe truly empty space. Where would the time be then? Would there be any sense of time other than eternity? I think not.
In the absence of matter, the first distinction of time passing would be "before" and "after," but only in reference to something occurring or arising in that empty space. The Simple Explanation would say the "before" state of timeless eternity would describe the formless ground state of no-thought consciousness, prior to thought, prior to things. The Simple Explanation calls this initial state the "Metaverse."
The Simple Explanation suggests that pure consciousness then had a thought that unfolded our universe.
This thought and subsequent universe were immediately encapsulated in the form of a 4-dimensional torus. The toroidal container isolates our familiar 3-D universe from the Metaverse, keeping the Metaverse eternal and uncluttered.
The Simple Explanation calls this container the "Universal Unit of "Consciousness."
The algorithm of creation enters our space through the portal of "here and now" in a highly ordered state.
The order of creation is this: momentary chaos, then metaversal information, then energy, then highly ordered matter. As matter proceeds away from the portal of here and now it becomes less orderly as the residual entropy of chaos affects it.
The Simple Explanation states that every thing, every piece of "material," comes into our universe with its very own unit of consciousness (UC) that governs the behavior of that piece of matter. From particles on up, every piece of material in our universe "knows" how to do its job because it is a fractal of the universal unit of consciousness, and the universal UC knows all there is to know about creation because it holds all the formulae.
It is through consciousness and information that our material universe is formed. In the case of an atom, its unit of consciousness (UC) needs to know how to reach out to other atoms and bond to form molecules. Molecules know how to bond to form elements. Organelles know how to bond to form cells. Cells know how to bond to form organs. Organs bond to form creatures. And so on. Each UC only needs to know how to do its own job.
In other words:
Time is the 4-D universal torus pushing eternity through the portal of here and now into our confined 3-D space.
This bears repeating:
Time is the 3-D projection of eternity passing through through a hyperspatial torus.
Now let's revisit the bucket of ocean water analogy: Outside of the bucket lies eternity. The water confined to the bucket is limited. We call the water inside the bucket time. We experience time as a phenomenon of consciousness because consciousness is passing from one location in the bucket's space to the another.
According to the Simple Explanation, the bucket holds our space-time inside a fractal border that can never be breached. Pure consciousness and the vastness of eternity lie just outside the bucket.
Each unit of consciousness passes one-by-one through the portal of here and now, from infinity into space and from eternity into time.
We are essentially units of consciousness, each with our own personal time manifesting along with our physical bodies. Time is subjective because each unit of consciousness is a subject with its own point of view.
There is no such thing as objective time. Time is always observed through the consciousness of an observer. Time is a manifestation of eternity, observed through consciousness that has been confined to our 3-D space/time continuum.
